IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is seeing one of the most active treatment pipelines in nephrology, as the field moves from blood-pressure and proteinuria control toward disease-modifying therapy.
Among the developments reported in 2026:
- Atacicept, which targets the BAFF and APRIL pathways involved in pathogenic IgA production, is under FDA priority review for IgAN.
- Iptacopan, a complement (factor B) inhibitor, showed slower eGFR decline and fewer kidney-failure events in Phase 3 data.
- Additional agents targeting the same immune pathways continue to report marked reductions in proteinuria.
Together these signal a near-term expansion of options for a disease that often progresses to kidney failure in younger adults.
